(1920-1998) Date Created March 23, 1973 Description Congresswoman Abzug discusses the inequities for women in American society, which have existed since the founding of the nation. Women are beginning to make strides in politics and business, but inequality is still prevalent. Abzug goes on to criticize the Nixon administration for making cuts in social programs that affect mostly poor people, including working mothers, the handicapped, and the elderly. She also discusses the wealth gap and dollar-devaluation caused by corporations that dump dollars to buy international currencies as a way to increase profits. A transcript of the talk is in the book "Each a Mighty Voice" (Heyday Books, 2004).
