Speaker Ham, Roswell Gray (1891-1983)
Date CreatedMay 14, 1965
Description

A renowned California alumnus analyzes recent unrest at U.C. and gives his view--and the reasons therefor--as to what lies behind the "FSM." Is "free speech!" really the issue? Why was the Berkeley campus the center for the FSM sit-ins? Only a year ago, in presenting Dr. Ham with Berkeley's honorary LL.D., President Clark Kerr remarked that as president of Mount Holyoke College for twenty years, Dr. Ham had "fostered there an academic climate of liberalism... congenial to faculty and student alike."
