Item Title The Negro Revolt: World Wide Non-White Unrest
Speaker Lomax, Louis E. (1922-1970)
Date CreatedDecember 11, 1964
Description

Lomax considers three current events:

1. Triple murder in the state of Mississippi and the breakdown of the legal system

2. Problems in the Congo

3. White flight from the major cities throughout America

In the process, he argues many points. He emphasizes the biggest problem is not the fall of society to communism, but race relations around the world. He argues the Chinese are exploiting the schism of white versus non-white. He criticizes the acquiescence of non-racists to racism, saying this only lets evil win. He says society can not stand when one forgets history. Tying the three events together, he says when the three are put together, the end question is if America can accept the mandate of history. He argues that learning to live together is not about brotherhood but about survival, arguing one cannot "pick a fight with history" and expect to win.
