Speaker Grether, Ewald Theophilus (1899-)
Date CreatedFebruary 18, 1949
Description

Grether discusses the purpose of the National Security Resources Board (NSRB). He states that the major problem before the board in the near future will be to decide how to proceed most effectively in peacetime planning for a possible mobilization day.He argues that if war came in the near future, conditions would require a radically different approach from that of 1939-42. He declares that the critical zone in in the expansion of military and security expenditures is where it is necessary to address the return of comprehensive economic controls over the economy.
