Speaker Grady, Henry Francis (1882-1957)
Date CreatedDecember 20, 1948
Description

Grady talks about the growing communist force in Greece, especially after the 1946 election. He states the support lend by United States for the recovery and re-construction of Greece is being undermined by the active campaign of destruction. He explains that owing to such conditions, the United States has decided not to make loans or gifts except under supervision. Grady further expresses belief that had the United States and Britain been not there, Greece would have been behind the Iron Curtain. He also talks about the guerrilla warfare that is plaguing Greece. Grady then explains in detail the various efforts undertaken by United States to help the Greece economy get back onto its feet.
