Item Title Japan's Asiatic Fortress
Speaker Clear, Warren J.
Date CreatedDecember 22, 1944
Description

Clear discusses the strategic advantages of Japan's position and what must be accomplished before a land, sea, and air attack on Japan can commence. This address was ordered printed in full by the club's board of governors. It "was perhaps the most exact presentation ever made public of the impressive and tragic sacrifices our own young men would have had to make to conquer Japan in Asia had we not short-circuited the war by using the atomic bomb. This report was so widely demanded that the club had to print two editions totalling 8450 copies." (Quoted from the club's 43rd annual progress report (1945), page 299.)
