Description

Having landed with the first U.S. marines to invade Guadalcanal during World War II, Huebner was on the scene throughout the battle for and capture of Guadalcanal. Huebner talks about how within 36 hours after landing, the 26th Construction Battalion had an airstrip for fighter planes built and in use. He also discusses how two weeks later they had an airstrip for bombers in operation.
