Item Title Governmental Interference
Speaker Reagan, Ronald
Date CreatedJanuary 18, 1978
Description

Since the Great Depression, Americans have turned more and more to government for answers that government has neither the right nor the capacity to provide. The result is a fourth branch of government, a gigantic bureaucracy that determines policy and cannot be removed from office by voters. It is time that a collective voice of workers and businesses was raised to point out that profit, property rights, and freedom are inseparable. We need an overall cut in the cost of government. Government spending is a drag on the economy. In the question-and-answer session after his talk, Reagan indicates he is not ready to declare his candidacy for the presidency in 1980.
