Speaker Rhodes, John J. (John Jacob) (1916-2003)
Date CreatedSeptember 23, 1977
Description

According to the latest Gallup Poll, only 20 percent of Americans call themselves Republicans. Rhodes is convinced that we are in the renaissance of national Republican strength. He discusses recent election results, President Carter‘s failure to understand the system he governs, and duplicity in the Carter administration‘s policies. Rhodes cites as examples energy conservation, housing, welfare, social security, and foreign policy. Republicans in Congress have offered alternatives and prevented an overwhelming Democratic majority from passing bad laws. The numbers of Republicans will grow steadily; the White House will again be Republican.
