Description

Ms. Millett was one of the founding mothers of modern American feminism, the

author of Sexual Politics. In 1973 her family had her committed to a mental institution as

a manic-depressive, and her story since, recounted in her new book, was one of doubting

her own sanity and finally examining the nature of sanity in general. A disturbing and

fascinating show. SF: "What I think Kate documents so powerfully is how once a label

is put upon her and once the people around her start accepting the psychiatric version of

reality as the absolute truth, then any statement she makes, any action she makes, can be

interpreted as a sign that she's crazy."
