Speaker
Hayakawa, S. I. (Samuel Ichiye)
(1906-1992)
Date CreatedOctober 15, 1976
Description
If elected to the U.S. Senate, Hayakawa would strive to remove inequalities and replace them with common sense. The fate of small businesses concerns him because small business is the growing point of the free enterprise system. The United States must decrease the amount of taxes senior citizens pay. He compares senior citizens who receive the average amount of social security to seniors who earn a million dollars in dividends and interest. He believes that the U.S. must not be indefinitely dependent on foreign oil sources. The candidate also discusses imperfect legislation, California‘s Proposition 14, which relates to agriculture, and foreign policy.
