Speaker Rockefeller, Nelson A. (Nelson Aldrich) (1908-1979)
Date CreatedMay 04, 1976
Description

Rockefeller explains how public understanding is central to the foreign policy of the United States. He asserts that export of U.S. agricultural products is a major element in achieving foreign exchange balances, making it possible to meet the huge rise in petroleum prices imposed by OPEC. He addresses the inquiry he headed into domestic activity by the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA). Finally, he outlines ten bases for U.S. foreign policy, including enhancing fair trade, being sensitive to the Third World, accelerating the rebuilding of the U.S. Navy, and encouraging nations to develop their identity and economy.
