Item Title Who Runs the Schools?
Speaker Hopp, Eugene S.
Date CreatedJanuary 16, 1976
Description

Hopp believes that local school boards are not in complete control of local schools, and explains why. The source of control is important because it determines who‘s values will be transmitted in the educational system. In today‘s politics of education, the federal government, teacher‘s organizations, and state agencies all have roles. Hopp wants to see control returned to lay people elected to school boards, though he has no easy answers on how to do this.
