Speaker
Herndon, Terry
Date CreatedDecember 19, 1975
Description
Herndon explains teacher's opposition to standardized testing. He argues that education is too complex to be determined and measured by a series of standardized tests. Claiming that the system is geared toward the norm, Herndon argues that standardized testing encourages conformity and does not give teachers or parents useful information about their children. Listing the objectives that standardized testing is meant to accomplish, he insists that none of them is achieved. Claiming that such testing costs more money than is worth, he calls for a moratorium on testing.
