Speaker Quarm, Samuel E.
Date CreatedDecember 12, 1975
Description

Ambassador Quarm talks about the status of Ghana and the Third World in the global community. He asserts the Third World's status as a power in the world stage, and criticizes the notion that its representatives to the United Nations are irresponsible rabble-rousers. In addition to enumerating issues on which the Third World cannot compromise, Quarm denounces racism in Rhodesia and apartheid in South Africa. Citing instances of economic exploitation, he argues that the world must avoid isolationism and instead work cooperatively to weather critical economic situations facing nations.
