Item Title Nuclear Energy: Time for Decision
Speaker Zarb, Frank G.
Date CreatedJuly 11, 1975
Description

Zarb discusses the United States' dependence on imported oil. While coal reserves in the U.S. are substantial, he favors using uranium, a largely untapped resource, as a source of even more energy. Nuclear power has risks, but the safety of the nuclear industry is unparalleled, and the risks are minimal. Nuclear energy would free the U.S. from dependence on foreign oil and lower electricity costs. In conclusion, he asserts that public fear about nuclear power ought not prevent the nation's advancement.
