Item Title Education Reform: Getting Down to Business
Speaker Ginn, Sam
Date CreatedFebruary 21, 1992
Description

Ginn looks at the K-12 education system in America from a businessman's perspective. He believes the education system is in deep trouble and needs urgent reforms, both functional and structural. While he favors an eventual shift to a market-based system, he says intermediate steps are needed in the interim. He advocates charter schools, results accountability, matching education to a students' post-school occupation, technology in the classroom, families' attitude toward education and parental involvement, teacher certification, and paying teachers as professionals.
