Item Title Defense and the Budget
Speaker McLucas, John L.
Date CreatedMay 09, 1975
Description

McLucas explains why cutting the defense budget will have negative consequences. He argues that the modernization of the air force is crucial to the security of the United States. Comparing the defense program to other programs in the federal budget, McLucas suggests that the Department of Defense is relatively efficient in its use of funding. He predicts that the cost of defense will rise due to inflation and the expanded global influence of the U.S., but it must remain a primary social objective.
