Speaker
Dinitz, Simcha
Date CreatedApril 11, 1975
Description
Dinitz expresses Israel's desire for peace in the Middle East, and argues that the neighboring Arab nations have denied it. He fears that the Arabs wish to return to 1967, because they refuse to agree to non-belligerency despite the many concessions Israel has made for peace. Regarding peace negotiations between Israel and Egypt in 1973, Dinitz explains that negotiations broke off because Egypt demanded full withdrawal from the occupied Sinai desert, knowing that if Israel refused, Americans might withdraw their support. In closing, Dinitz reaffirms Israel's relationship with the United States, and his country's hope for peace.
