Item Title Illegal Immigration: A World and U.S. Problem
Speaker Chapman, Leonard F.
Date CreatedFebruary 07, 1975
Description

General Chapman talks about the problem of millions of illegal immigrants residing in the United States. Describing the reasons for the immigrants' initial migration, Chapman points to America's many job opportunities as their main incentive. The problem with this rapid migration is that legal U.S. citizens are losing money because illegal immigrants do not pay taxes. Furthermore, all of these immigrants fill jobs and can collect welfare. Due to the strain on citizens' wallets, new solutions are needed. Chapman thinks that punishing employers instead of the illegal employees would be more effective. The gravity of the illegal immigration problem will continue to increase if it remains unaddressed.
