Speaker Kennedy, Edward M. (Edward Moore) (1932-2009)
Date CreatedJanuary 31, 1975
Description

Senator Kennedy talks about the economic crisis of increased food and gas

prices combined with decrease in workers' salaries. Focusing on the how

oil prices intensify the crisis, he explores ways to reduce consumption and

increase domestic production. Kennedy's eight step plan to create a

realistic energy program for the next decade, includes imposing gasoline

quotas, producing more energy domestically, and cooperating with

oil-producing states. However, he believes the energy crisis is only a

third of major problems in front of America, saying recession and inflation

also need to be addressed. Kennedy suggests that the crisis is an

incentive to explore other options, inducing a New Age of Creativity.
