This collection contains telegrams sent and received by the Polish legation in Romania between 1919 and 1939, as well as some correspondence between the legation and the Polish consulate in Chisinau. It is one of the best-preserved collections of its kind, documenting not only Polish-Romanian relations and the role Romania played as Poland's economic and strategic partner, but also Polish interwar foreign policy toward the Balkans, Italy, Central Europe (Germany and Czechoslovakia in particular), and the Soviet Union. Exchanged at the highest diplomatic level, the telegrams illustrate daily developments in the international tensions that culminated in the outbreak of World War II.
A digital copy of this entire collection is available on the Polish National Digital Archives website at Poselstwo Polskie w Rumunii.
