The News and Current Affairs (NCA) Department was a library of audio clips documenting current events--excerpts of press conferences by heads of state, religious leaders, entertainers, athletes, etc.--made available to all RFE/RL language services for use in their broadcasts. Some of the content was recorded by RFE/RL itself and should be considered proprietary to the radios, however at least as much was sourced from networks such as Armed Forces Radio and BBC. The presence of a clip in this series does not necessarily mean it was used in a RFE/RL broadcast; it simply means that RFE/RL created or collected the recording and made it available to its broadcasters.
