Item Title Who Should Pay for Mail Service: Taxpayers or Mail Users?
Speaker Klassen, Elmer T. (Elmer Theodore) (1908-)
Date CreatedMarch 22, 1974
Description

Klassen describes the current state of the United States postal system. He praises the changes instituted by the Postal Reorganization Act, which have improved the management structure and efficiency of the postal system. The proposal of the magazine industry to continue subsidies that reduce the cost of postage is unfair to taxpayers. Klassen also criticizes the Cost of Living Council for placing wage and price controls on the postal system because it has led to huge deficits.
