Item Title Proposition 1 and the Expenditure Limitations Initiative [2]
Speaker Reagan, Ronald
Date CreatedOctober 19, 1973
Description

Governor Reagan challenges the critics who see California‘s Proposition 1 as a departure from our representative form of government. Proposition 1 presents a choice between government by the consent of the people and government ruling the people through the power of taxation. He argues that government spending is out of control and must be brought under reasonable restraint to halt inflation. Voting "Yes" on Proposition 1 is the only way to take away the politician‘s right to a blank check bearing your signature.
