Item Title Civil Rights: What's Happened Since the 60s?
Speaker Pottinger, J. Stanley (1940-)
Date CreatedOctober 12, 1973
Description

Pottinger reviews the progress of the civil rights movement since the passage of the 1964 Civil Rights Act. There have been significant advances through an increase in "elected black officials" and through the enforcement of desegration in education and employment by the Equal Opportunity Commission. Yet some critics say we have not done enough, while others state we have gone too far in enforcement of civil rights laws. What will the future of civil rights bring? Pottinger hopes it yields expanded efforts and greater concrete success.
