Klein believes the public is "Watergate obsessed" due largely to the coverage offered by the media and the need of Americans to move away from general distrust of the government. There have always been a few government officials who have misused power, but they are the minority. The American public cannot let the press propel an adversarial relationship between it and government or it and the media. Instead, the public should lead the press to restore confidence in both the government and the media.
