Middle of Chapter XV Carcel del padre. Conflicto con los terratenientes. Defensa de las tierras. Preso de Nuevo el Padre. Creacion del CUC: She speaks of the invasions by the soldiers. The soldiers would come to their community and tear apart their homes, steal and kill their animals. She speaks about the conflicts between the community and the two family landowners, who control much of the land and essentially the rights of the indigenous communities residing on or near the land.

She talks about the attempt to understand the root of the problems among the indigenous communities, problems that existed between the rich and poor and the hunger that her community and others suffered from. She talks about how the community supported one another and how she began to be more political.
