Part 1:

Chapter XXIII Tortura y muerte de su hermanito quemado vivo junto con otras personas delante de los miembros de la comunidad y de sus familias. She begins the chapter with talking about the whereabouts of her family when her brother was kidnapped and the activities they were all involved in. Chapter XXXIII El exilio. She skips to the last chapter here briefly to describe the kidnapping of her sister and her sister’s involvement in the movement. Chapter XXIII Tortura y muerte de su hermanito quemado vivo junto con otras personas delante de los miembros de la comunidad y de sus familias. She returns to this chapter to describe her what happened to her brother when he disappeared. She describes how they tortured her brother in detail.
Part 2:
Chapter XXIII Tortura y muerte de su hermanito quemado vivo junto con otras personas delante de los miembros de la comunidad y de sus familias. She finishes the chapter here speaking of how the communities came together to unite against the tortures that were happening to many members of the communities. She describes the dead bodies that the communities were witnessing. She speaks about the different reactions that both her mother and father had to the deaths. Chapter XXVI Secuestro y muerte de la madre de Rigoberta Menchu. Rememorando a su madre. There are parts of this chapter in this recording as well as some parts that I’m not sure of. She describes the death of her mother. This recording is very difficult to hear so there may be parts missing in this description. Chapter XXIV Marcha de los campesinos a la capital. Ocupación de la embajada de España. Muerte de Vicente Menchu, Padre de Rigoberta. She describes the beginning part of this chapter here concerning political meetings that Menchu would attend in order to plan for a large protest against the presence of the military in certain regions. She sees her father at one of the meetings and he gives her encouragement to continue in the same sort of political activities in which he was involved.
