Speaker Botha, J. S. F. (Johan Samuel Frederick) (1919-)
Date CreatedMarch 16, 1973
Description

Botha comments on South Africa‘s economic and political position in world affairs. Among the subjects covered are gold, international trade relations, and domestic race relations. He discusses gold as a pillar of South Africa‘s economy and as an international standard. Botha denounces the existence of racial oppression, stating, "Some would see South Africa as a country of racial oppression. From a distance and out of context this might seem so. Volumes have been written.... Much of this is a fountain of misinformation." He goes on to say, "South Africa will probably evolve into a free association of independent states--white and black."
