Item Title Prospect for Development Assistance
Speaker Hannah, John A. (1902-1991)
Date CreatedDecember 08, 1972
Description

United States assistance for developing nations will concentrate on such basic human problems as inadequate food and nutrition, the population boom, disease, and insufficient educational facilities. Another major task will be reconstruction in Southeast Asia, including North Vietnam, once a peace treaty is signed. A third major task will be opening up the international economic system so that developing countries can expand their trade, increase private capital flows, and gain increased resources for development. Measures that stimulate private rather than public resource flows will maximize self-help by the developing countries.
