Item Title The New Left: Reform or Revolution?
Speaker Bacciocco, Edward J.
Date CreatedSeptember 29, 1972
Description

Bacciocco was widely quoted in 1971 for predicting the demise of the New Left as a revolutionary movement. He summarizes the evolution of the New Left, explains its transformation from a movement advocating reform to one espousing revolutionary change, and speculates on the options the New Left has for the future. He also notes the significance of the McGovern candidacy in providing the New Left with a chance to eschew revolution and reemphasize the radical reformist approach that characterized it in the early 1960s.

Bacciocco was National fellow, Hoover Institution; author, "The New Left: From Reform to Revolution," 1973.
