Description

President Nixon has given form and direction to the environmental movement. He has reorganized and modernized the institutions responsible for environmental quality. He has sent Congress many innovative proposals for environmental quality, but most have not been acted on. Despite congressional inaction, Nixon has attacked air and water pollution, and protected public lands. Nixon is the first environmental president.
