Description
The mass gravesites contain Polish officers killed by the NKVD (People's Commissariat for Internal Affairs) in 1934. In addition to Polish officers, the grave in Kharkov also contains Soviet citizens. The unidentified broadcaster says that, in addition to Katyn where approximately 4,000 bodies have been identified, approximately 11,000 bodies have been identified at the Kharkov grave while another 4,000 have been identified at the Mednoye site. Both the Mednoye and Kharkov gravesites are associated with NKVD order that resulted in the Katyn massacre.
