Description

At this congress a merge was announced between the existing official branch of the BZNS, that co-exited during communist era with the Communist Party, and the BZNS "Nikola Petkov" which was considered illegal for the 47 years after its leader, Nikola Petkoff, was hanged. Going forward, the two sections would exist as a united BZNS following closely the ideas of the original founders, Aleksandŭr Stamboliiski and Nikola Petkov, in opposition to the Bulgarian Socialist Party. 'Zemedelsko Zname,' the official newspaper of the BZNS, will continue as the official newspaper of the Union.
