NotesIvey L. Lee, an independent publicist working for the Pennsylvania Railroad, commissioned Wyeth to paint twleve images of patriotic subjects, each related to a location served by the railroad, including this one. The painting from which the poster was made is lost, and despite the best detective efforts of curators, scholars, and others, its whereabouts remains unknown. The poster offers the only way to see what the painting looked like.
