Item Title Women's Liberation: What's It All About?
Speaker Hernandez, Aileen C.
Date CreatedMarch 17, 1972
Description

Hernandez speaks about gender equality, allowing women to develop their full potential as an individual. She believes that men as well as women are disadvantaged by society's stereotypes. She links oppression of women to oppression of racial groups. Speaking for her organization, she says the National Organization for Women (NOW) does not want "in" to a sick structure--it wants to fundamentally change society. She argues something is seriously wrong with a country that can produce so much yet have so great a problem in distributing it. She advocates for women to have economic power and for them to get into politics.
