Speaker Seaborg, Glenn Theodore (1912-)
Date CreatedFebruary 18, 1972
Description

Electric power is the primary peaceful use of nuclear energy. Seaborg addresses its positive and problematic aspects. The use of nuclear power to desalinate water leads him to the nuclear powered agricultural-industrial complex, or "nuplex." Then he focuses on the other side of the atom, which he sees as the broader role of radioisotopes and radiation. Applications for them are growing in medicine, agriculture, and industy.
