Speaker Hollister, Leo E. (1920-)
Date CreatedJuly 02, 1971
Description

Hollister discusses the history of criminal laws focusing on drug use in the United States. He asserts that the system of criminal justice is in severe jeopardy because victimless crimes like drug use are clogging the courts. If marijuana use is a crime, then alcohol use should also be one. Hollister believes each person should have the right to choose to risk danger by drug use so long as that choice does not harm others.
