Description

A panel discussion on the media's effect on the increase in childhood obesity in America. Saying she is a proponent of free speech, Liz Perle is advocating "sanity" in advertising. She believes parents need to know the content of what their children take into their bodies (food and media), decrying the permissiveness of some parents. She calls for the public to complain to the FCC about unhealthy advertising on the airwaves. Bortz believes obesity is the intersection of biology and capitalism. He goes on to say that all the medical problems will result in additional health care costs, saying everyone will have to pay for it. Stephanie Yost Cameron reminds the audience that unhealthy food options are around because that is what people choose to buy.
