Speaker
Steinberg, Leigh
Date CreatedAugust 21, 1970
Description
The Nonviolent Action Party (NAP) was formed at the University of California at Berkeley to show that nonviolence and social change were not mutually exclusive. NAP won the student elections, and a referendum against violence passed by a three to one margin. Steinberg, president of the party, talks about how the NAP can be a national example for the nonviolent resolution of human conflict, and speaks regarding the difficulties of achieving this goal on campus due to two groups, destructive militants and apathetic isolationists.
