Speaker Jackson, Jesse (1941-)
Date CreatedOctober 27, 1993
Description

Reverend Jackson speaks on what needs to be done to reform the educational system in America. He frames it as a cultural problem. He is critical of vouchers, linking them to the privatization of health care and declining quality of both. He further notes that amount of time children spend at school as compared to other activities such as watching television, going to church, and others. He focuses on how investment on things such as prenatal care and education are fiscally prudent as compared to spending on such things as prisons. He also speaks about student-on-student violence. He calls for more parental involvement to improve both educational quality and educational safety.
