Item Title Economic Post-Mortem On The Election
Speaker Laffer, Arthur
Date CreatedNovember 12, 1992
Description

Laffer analyzes the economy of the United States in the coming decade. Speaking about the recent election, he theorizes Clinton is president because he likes the office, not the actions, and will resemble John F. Kennedy, as opposed to Jimmy Carter. However, he spends most of his time talking about the federal government's deficit, federal spending, and how the national economy fits within the world economy. He argues "deficits don't matter." Instead, he argues "spending is the issue," and it's a question of if the government takes private money. He also praises President Reagan's economic policy and explains how America is now reaping its benefits.
