Item Title Yosemite and Hetch Hetchy
Speaker Hodel, Donald Paul (1935-)
Date CreatedJanuary 29, 1988
Description

Secretary of the Interior Hodel speaks about draining the Hetch Hetchy reservoir, hoping to return the valley to its pre-reservoir state. Hodel argues that Hetch Hetchy is the little sibling to Yosemite National Park in its beauty, if not grandeur. He argues that the power generated by the dam is a minor contributor to California's power needs, and that the water provided could be sourced elsewhere along the river, notably the delta downstream.
