Speaker Lurie, Robert A.
Date CreatedApril 18, 1985
Description

Bob Lurie had previously announced that after this season, his team will no longer play in San Francisco due to the state of disrepair of the Candlestick Park. In his speech, he explains what a wonderful sport baseball is but how the team is always faced with challenges each year whether in the form of a strike by the players or umpires, etc. This year, he said that their major challenge was finding a respectable park for the team to play in. He discusses other locations in the Bay Area that the team could move to, including Redwood City, San Jose, and Milpitas. He dislikes the designated hitter rule, arguing both leagues should play under the same rules. He likes the expanded play-off schedule.
