Description

Using his first-hand experience, Stockdale speaks on surviving a war prison. He analyzes why those in the military suffer-through, or die in, situations that they do. Included in this are mental abuse (including fear and guilt) as well as physical abuse. He believes dignity is "the enigmatic mixture of conscience and egoism."

Stockdale's biography includes: Vice Admiral, United States Navy; Recipient, United States Medal of Honor, 1976; Senior Research Fellow, Hoover Institution, 1981-96; unsuccessful independent candidate for US Vice President, 1992.
