Speaker Cunningham, Mary E.
Date CreatedFebruary 27, 1981
Description

Cunningham's topic is prejudice against women in the workplace. She asserts that women are often scrutinized because of their gender when they succeed in moving up to the management level. Female employees' creativity and good performance are usually not appreciated nor considered suitable for leadership, she argues, because of negative stereotyping. Cunningham observes that a company's productivity is negatively affected when such prejudice is part of its culture. She offers remedies for women and others to use to improve corporate ethics so that women are recognized for their work.

A few minutes into the speech, the speaker's voice jumps in volume. This is how the audio is on the source tape and was not introduced during the digitization process.
