Speaker Zinner, Paul E.
Date CreatedDecember 12, 1980
Description

In discussing the economic crisis in Poland, Zinner examines the predicament facing the East and the West as a consequence of the Polish situation. He talks about the Soviet Union's choice of whether to intervene in Poland to help Poland retain socialism. He also explains how the West must face difficult choices in helping Poland recover economically without further solidifying its communist regime or encouraging Soviet intervention. Lastly, Zinner calls for the cooperation between the East and the West to help Poland, which would have a positive effect on international relations.
