Item Title Birth Control in the Year 2001
Speaker Djerassi, Carl
Date CreatedAugust 29, 1980
Description

Addressing the world's high birth rate versus the death rate, Djerassi describes the different measures many countries have taken to promote birth control. He lists countries with large populations, high growth rates, and the ease of obtaining contraceptives. He notes that the progress of birth control is still slow in certain countries. Using current statistics, Djerassi predicts the future world population with and without effective birth control. He urges the United States to be more financially involved with the World Health Organization (WHO) so that the population problem can be fixed.
