Item Title The Alienation of the West: Rise of the Western Coalition
Speaker Miller, Terry (1942-1989)
Date CreatedNovember 21, 1979
Description

Miller discusses how federal policies on land, water and energy have alienated the western United States and pushed them towards regionalism. The federal government control more than 60 percent of the land west of the Rocky Mountains, so federal intervention is much more forceful and damaging than in the eastern U.S. Miller explores various aspects of this regionalism and Alaska's petition to Congress for settlement of unresolved land issues.
